Step 1: Measure Your Square Tubing
Before purchasing your connectors from Joints and Connectors, you need to know the outer dimension of your square tube (or diameter of the round tubing). Our connectors are designed to fit standard aluminium or steel square tubing*.
- Action: Use a calliper or a standard ruler to measure the width of your tube.
- Pro Tip: If your tube is 19mm x 19mm, you will require our square tube connector of the same size. Our frame connectors are designed to fit snugly, ensuring your tube is held rigidly in place.
*They can also be used with wood and plastic.
Step 2: Choose Your Connectors
Visit Joints and Connectors to select the right configuration for your project. For a standard 3D cube or rectangular frame, you will typically need 3-way corner connectors. These allow you to join three box section tubes.
We can supply many types of tube connectors, ranging from simple 2-way 90 degree corner connectors, to 4-way or even angled connectors. If we don’t have a connector you need – contact us! We can make it for you.
Step 3: The Snug Fit Assembly
The beauty of our connectors is that they are strong and also design specifically to be a "friction fit” with your frame building tubing. You don’t need messy glues or complicated welding.
- Assembly: Simply align the connector with the open end of your square tube and push it in.
- The "Secret": If the fit is tight, use a rubber mallet to gently tap the tube onto the connector. This ensures a flush, professional finish without scratching the material.
Step 4: Secure and Finalise
Once your frame is assembled, it is structurally sound for most applications. However their is also the option to use a small self-tapping screw through the pre-marked pilot holes on the connector. Resulting in a a rigid, lightweight, and perfectly square frame that is ready for panels, shelving, or tops.
Please note the screw is not needed in most applications.
